"I loved reading this! What a kick. It is a fun read for someone going on vacation to a place where birds are plentiful. It would also be a good book to have on the coffee table of a cabin or bed-and-breakfast."

Roger Bishop, bird watcher

About the Book

Birds! You gotta love them. They need to be constantly wary of predators, perpetually seeking food, and nearly always looking their best to attract a mate. Yet there is something about them that intrigues and relaxes us. When we see them pop in to our feeders, splash the water out of our birdbaths, or soar effortlessly overhead, smiles naturally come to our faces. Fly-by Prozac.

Birding (or bird watching, if you prefer) is a fun, uplifting, therapeutic, and totally enjoyable form of recreation, as long as you approach it that way. This book encourages you to approach it that way.

The goal of this book is to entertain you while adding to your birding abilities. There is a lot here for novice birders, but even seasoned birders can pick up a few tips. If you are not now a birder, it would please me to win you over. And I hope you get a few laughs along the way.

About the Author

As a "recovering engineer," Stan Dryden understands the need for a daily infusion of beauty into his life. His recovery has been sustained by listening to fine music, by his move to the Monterey Peninsula in 1997, and by a growing appreciation of the natural world, including birds. Long enchanted with our feathered friends, he became serious about birding in 2000 and has become a bit of a zealot. Chapter three opens a window into his "recovery."

"Full of humor, knowledge, insight, and personal experiences, this is the perfect book for the beginning birder. The more advanced birders will see their birding passions in these pages."

Brian Weed, passionate birder
